How to apply

Institute Dates: 30 June–18 July 2025

Applications should be submitted online through the Dickens in the Classroom application form. Use the button below to access the application form. (The form requires a Google/Gmail account.) Applicants should include a letter of introduction indicating qualifications, reasons for selecting this institute, and a short C.V. or resume.

Essay and Resume Requirements
(Acceptable file types: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt, .rtf, and .odt.)

C.V./Resume (5 pages maximum)

Personal Essay (500-750 words double-spaced)
Your essay should tell us:

      • about yourself
      • what it’s like to be a student in your classroom
      • about your interest in the institute topic
      • how you envision using the content of the institute to enhance your students’ experience
      • about any special skills or perspectives you would bring as a participant in this institute

Deadlines
All application materials must arrive by 5 March 2025.
Applicants will be notified of decisions regarding admission to the institute on 2 April 2025.
Participants must inform the director of their decision to accept an offer of admission by 16 April 2025.

Stipend
Each teacher will receive a stipend of $2,850 for the institute. Participants will receive this via two payments: the first at the end of week 1 and the second after uploading the curricular project and completing the required evaluation. Please note that this is taxable income and that the stipend is intended to offset participation costs, including lodging, travel, and meals.
