San Mateo Dickens Day of Writing

Students in the San Mateo area will come together for a morning of creative and critical engagement with Charles Dickens’s short essay “Night Walks.” Students will read, discuss, and write either a critical or creative essay connecting Dickens’s essay to social issues within their own communities.

The first San Mateo Dickens Day of Writing will take place at The Nueva School.

 

Schedule on February 7th (subject to change check back for updates) 

8:55 am – Introduction and reading of Charles Dickens’s “Night Walks”

9:30 am – Discussion and brainstorming activities

10:00 am – Drafting and writing of essays

10:55 am – Submit drafts for mentors feedback

Mentor Registration: 

Please complete this Google Form.

Please note that mentors will not attend the event on February 7th, but will provide written or recorded feedback on a student’s draft by February 14th.
