Cleveland Dickens Day of Writing
Friday, February 7, 2025. Students in the Cleveland area will have the opportunity to express their creativity by participating in the 4th Cleveland Dickens Day of Writing. Students will meet together, where they will read the short essay “Gone Astray” by Charles Dickens together and write a creative or argumentative essay connecting “Gone Astray” to social issues in their community.
Students attending Cleaveland Day of Writing:
- Sign up with Christian Lehmann by going to his classroom
- Will have the opportunity to interact at the Museum of Art, allowing students to clear their minds
- Mentorship from members in their community
- Transportation will be provided for participants
Schedule

9:30 am: Bus transportation to the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA)
10:00 am: Read “Gone Astray” together by listening to an audiobook following a 30-minute discussion
10:30-11:15 am: Students will create outlines for their essays
11:15-11:45 am: Walk around the museum to clear their heads and see if any works speak to them
11:45-12:45 pm: Lunch
12:45-1:15 pm: Students will meet with mentors before beginning final draft
Buses will take students back to campus
